Airport public bus

Yellow cabs would probably run about $40 per cab into the hotel. Flat rate plus tip. Taxis can legally only take four passengers, but with luggage it might be only three. The problem with taking taxis might be getting enough taxis at the same time so that the group arrives at the hotel together within a reasonable time.

AirTrain/LIRR/Subway runs about $14 each way per person. Group takes monorail to Long Island Railroad (LIRR) and it’s about 20 minutes into Manhattan from there, right into Penn Station/Madison Square Garden at 34th and 7th. Taxi probably required to get to hotel from Penn Station: $10 per taxi.

Chartered bus costs $450 to $500 each way. Up to 55 passengers. Bus does allow the tour guide/director to talk during trip. It also goes directly to and from hotel or pickup area.

Airport bus cost $8 each way. It’s a general, public bus to the Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station area. Loading and unloading for large groups might be a problem.

The size of the group determines the best method. Without much luggage the taxi or AirTrain works fine. Each person would have to carry his or her own luggage and packages.
